Celebrating Florence Shanks, 2024 Telethon Star

Peter Carnley Anglican Community School is incredibly proud of Kindergarten student Florence Shanks, one of the four 2024 Telethon Stars. Born with severe Congenital Heart Disease, Florence has already undergone three life-saving open-heart surgeries, beginning just days after her birth and most recently a few months ago. Despite having only half a functioning heart, Florence’s resilience and vibrant spirit shine brightly.

At school, Florence is known for her joyful personality, kindness, and love for all activities. She especially enjoys singing, dancing, and getting creative in the mud kitchen, where she’s always adding sprinkles to her culinary masterpieces.

In support of Telethon, the PCACS Junior School held an impressive Read-a-thon fundraiser. Students read more than 14,000 books in just four weeks and raised $7,531 for Telethon. The event culminated with the School’s Service Captains proudly representing PCACS at the live Telethon event, demonstrating the school’s commitment to community and service.
