Inspiring Students into High Demand Careers

John Wollaston Anglican Community School will expand its curriculum in 2025 by introducing two forward-thinking elective courses—Biomedical Science and Cyber Security.

In the Biomedical Science elective course, Year 10 students will explore areas of biology that relate to both human and animal health. The course will suit students interested in pursuing careers in medicine, dentistry, radiology, veterinary, and zoology. In the course, students will explore body systems, microbiology, diseases, human genetics, pharmacology, toxicology and modern medical technologies through deeper, hands-on learning.

The new Cyber Security course will introduce Years 9 and 10 students to the rapidly growing field of Cyber Security. The curriculum offers comprehensive learning of the threats, vulnerabilities and safeguards related to digital information and infrastructure. The Cyber Security course will help students to understand how to protect and defend information systems.

‘These subjects will enhance our students’ knowledge and skills and inspire them to pursue careers that address critical global challenges,’ said Ms Rebecca Piccolo, Dean of Teaching and Learning.
