Top of the Class

Months of long hours studying for exams has paid off in a big way for a Busselton based high school student, who has managed to find himself among the top students in the State.

Georgiana Molloy Anglican School graduate Logan Silvester is amid the top of the class for the South West after his ATAR exams, achieving a final result of 95.20.

It comes after a number of high school graduates in the South West, from Bunbury to Busselton and Manjimup to Margaret River, achieved ATAR scores of 95.00 or higher following their final exams.

Logan said while he aimed high, he was happy to know his final result would open the door to a plethora of opportunities at university.

“I was in my car with my brother when I got a message from one of my friends telling me the results were out,” he said. “I just rushed home as soon as I could to find out my result.”

Logan said navigating the ATAR pathway was all about time management, balancing studying with being able to spend time with friends and family.

“I just sat down and I had a couple of hours after school where I would just study and take intermittent breaks, as well as finding time to relax and spend time with family and friends,” he said.

“My whole strategy was prefacing a textbook or take notes on a topic to build up an index of key points and then in class ask any questions I had. “Before going into a test I would just review that index.”

Logan said he had already accepted an offer to study a double degree in electrical engineering and physics at UWA.
