Frederick Irwin Anglican School recently welcomed Ms Donia Clews as the Primary Student Wellbeing Officer. In this role, Donia is dedicated to nurturing students’ emotional, social, and mental wellbeing, fostering a safe and supportive environment where they can thrive academically and personally.
Donia has hit the ground running, spending time in classrooms to connect with students and staff, assisting with classroom support, and engaging students during breaks. At the Halls Head campus, she is helping Year 6 students run a lunchtime arts club and is launching a similar initiative at Meadow Springs. Her hands-on approach helps her build meaningful relationships with students while promoting creativity and connection.
A core part of Donia’s work involves supporting Social Emotional Learning (SEL) using the Friendly Schools curriculum. She collaborates with teachers to find resources, assist with lessons, and work with small groups on targeted issues.
With a career that began as a special needs education assistant, Donia brings a wealth of experience to her role. After completing a Bachelor of Counselling in 2016, she worked in private practice, agencies, and as a school social worker, helping young people navigate social and emotional challenges. Passionate about working with students, Donia values their fresh perspective and is thrilled to contribute to the Frederick Irwin community.
