Stillness & Silence UNIT
Students learn that stillness and silence, prayer and reflection have a rich history in Christianity and other world religions. Different ways of ‘being still’ are considered including: Lectio Divina, Mantra, Contemplative Prayer, prayer Labyrinths, reflection on an icon or object, visualisation and an overview of Eastern meditation. Students are provided with the opportunity to learn about these methods including their history as well as experience them. The unit also considers some of the strategies that have been popularized by modern psychology including mindfulness, controlling our self-talk and gratitude.
