This year’s Trinity Anglican College Winter Sleepout served as a powerful reminder of the challenges those experiencing homelessness face.
Year 11 students set up simple sleeping areas, prepared food and created a welcoming atmosphere with a fire and outdoor cinema. After sharing vegetable and chicken soup, The Reverend Emily Payne spoke about homelessness in the Albury-Wodonga region, prompting thoughtful questions and quiet reflection as students watched a documentary.
The following day, ‘Flannelette Friday’ continued the initiative, with students wearing flannies and donating gold coins or non-perishable food items. The event raised $460 and collected over 300kg of food for local charities FoodShare and Carevan.
The collective efforts of students, staff, and local businesses made the event a true community effort.
