Teaching and Learning News – August

ASC Vision for Learning

To commence Term 3, it was wonderful to be invited to work with Esperance Anglican Community School and also John Wollaston Anglican Community School to further our system-wide implementation of our Vision for Learning. Workshops were held on Professional Learning Days to support staff with a shared purpose for learning across our schools.

ASC NAPLAN Masterclass 2024

On Monday 5 August, school leaders attended a NAPLAN Masterclass with Peter Farmer, Numeracy Consultant from AISWA. Over 60 staff attended this event to support school leaders with interpreting NAPLAN data and to inform data storytelling, as part of our continual effort to improve student outcomes and school performance across the ASC.

During the NAPLAN Masterclass, Peter Farmer effectively outlined how NAPLAN data can be used to analyse strengths and areas for improvement across school, cohort and student performance. Peter provided an overview of the data available via the Valuate platform, supporting teachers to provide differentiated learning experiences for our students. Attendees also examined their school’s 2024 data comparisons with NAPLAN historical data from 2023.

Webinar: Ten Ways to Look at Your NAPLAN Data

School leaders and teachers are invited to attend a webinar on Ten Ways to Look at Your NAPLAN Data with Dr Selena Fisk.

On Friday 30 August, Dr Selena Fisk will lead this two-hour webinar for staff commencing at 10:00am AWST and 12:00pm AEST.

Dr Fisk is a 2024 ACEL National Award recipient of the ACEL Hedley Beare Award for Education Writing in the field of educational leadership. During this NAPLAN data Webinar, Dr Fisk shares ten ways you can analyse and view your data so that you can use it for your data storytelling at your school to improve student outcomes.

This live webinar will provide you with an opportunity to ask Selena questions and give you access to data templates in support of your analysis and historical data comparisons. Selena will provide cohort, students, and longitudinal analysis suggestions, and ideas on how to visualise the information to help identify trends and data insights for your students and your school.

Invitations to register for this event will be sent to schools shortly. Please note that there is no registration cost for ASC webinar attendees. Please contact me if you have any questions regarding this ASC professional learning opportunity.
