ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
I am delighted to advise you of the appointment of MR IVAN MCLEAN as our new CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER (COO), commencing early June.
Ivan is well-known to the ASC family, serving on the senior staff at St Mark’s Anglican Community School for the past two years as Head of Middle School and currently the Acting Head of Teaching and Learning. From 2016-2021, Ivan was Secondary Principal of the Australian International School in Malaysia. Prior to moving overseas, he was Associate Principal Senior School at Peter Moyes Anglican Community School from 2007-2015. Before joining the ASC in 2007, Ivan spent a decade teaching in three different Anglican schools across Perth. He is deeply committed to the mission and purpose of Anglican schooling.
The COO is responsible to the CEO for ‘operationalising’ the ASC’s strategy, especially as it is articulated in the Strategic Plan. This involves oversight of the operations of the ASC, ensuring they are aligned with our Vision, Core Purpose, Core Values and Strategy.
Ivan holds a Bachelor of Science (Mathematics) from UWA, a Diploma of Education, a Master of Science from Curtin University, a Diploma of Management, a Certificate IV in Training and Education, and the Wollaston Certificate for Anglican Leaders. He is married to Dianne and has two adult children Aimee and Liam.
Ivan writes: “I am excited to be joining the team and contribute to our system as it continues to fulfil its purpose in providing a truly high quality, inclusive and caring Christian education in low-fee Anglican systemic schools across Australia. I look forward to meeting new faces in many of our schools, as well as re-acquainting with many familiar faces. I also look forward to helping all our staff, be they in the Head Office or in the schools, as the ASC continues to grow and thrive.”
Ivan has been a long-serving member of the ASC family. I look forward to welcoming him to the position of COO in June.
In the meantime, the ASC continues to be very well served by our Acting Chief Operating Officer, Shane Parnell, who stepped into the role earlier this year from the substantive position as Director of Technology. Shane will continue as Acting COO until Ivan commences.
